The Clubhouse
In 2008 our clubhouse was opened, echoing the sensibility of a fine, private estate with elegance and comfort. From the back porch and patio you overlook the 10th and 18th holes. The outstanding food and beverage service at The Grill makes it an ideal place for a casual or business lunch. The Grill also serves breakfast. The Clubhouse has a well-appointed Pro Shop, along with men’s and women’s locker rooms. There are multiple fireplaces with comfortable seating throughout the clubhouse. Lastly, our boardroom, called “The Library,” can be used for business meetings requiring some privacy.
Practice Facilities
Old Chatham Golf Club has one of the largest (15 acres) practice facilities in the state of North Carolina. The main range has “front” and “back” tee areas that are 367 yards long, with 8 target greens. Throughout the year, members will utilize both tee areas to help get the best turf conditions possible. The driving range was resurfaced with zorro zoysia in 2021 to match the fairway grasses that were installed during the 2022 renovation. There are 24 state-of-the-art hitting mats on the main tee to allow for practice when the turf is wet or too cold for the natural tee areas.
In 2022 we installed a range canopy with 12 bays. This canopy provides a shaded area with fans for hitting in the warmer months along with infrared heaters to provide a more comfortable hitting temperature in the winter.
Our original short game area features a 2,900 sq.ft. green and one bunker where you can hit greenside bunker shots. It also serves as a practice fairway bunker that hits to the main range. In 2019 we opened an additional short game area with an 8,800 sq.ft. green, two greenside bunkers, and an expansive pitching and chipping area where up to 70 yard pitch shots may be practiced. Lastly, near the first tee is a 5,900 sq.ft. practice putting green.
Caddie Program
Old Chatham has maintained a strong caddie program since its inception. Our caddies are made up of local collegiate golfers, aspiring professionals, former tour caddies and professional caddies that have worked at some of the best clubs around the country. We are very proud of this tradition and how our members support the caddie program. Caddies are required when a member hosts two or more non-members in his or her group and with any unaccompanied group.
The Birch Cottage
In 2014, the only home located on property was opened for member use. The cottage contains four bedrooms, each featuring a king-sized bed and full bathroom. There is a small kitchen area with a dining room table, a large living room area with 3 flat screen TVs and a patio with porch that is adjacent to the practice facility. The entire cottage may be rented more than two weeks prior to arrival, or individual rooms rented within two weeks in advance of arrival. The living room may be rented for business meetings or retreats within this two week window as well. Breakfast and lunch are available from the Club, and dinner can be provided by the Club or any of the surrounding restaurants. The Club is in close proximity to two shopping and dining areas.
